Fings ave been very very hectic here lately, living with beans is soooooo tiring.....[snore]

Mama had crutchy fings for ages and then the bean V.E.T. cutted her knee up and maded it better. But the bean V.E.T. says her knees have harfiritis in them......We dunno wat that is, but it sounds icky.

Daddy has a poorly heart now. We knows he loves us cos he hugses us and kissessess us lots so we finks his heart is just fine....

They bof been werking so hard to feeds us our treatsies and nice fuds we hardly efer sees them!

Hmm - does we want treatsies or mama and daddy?

Us kittehs love playing heffalumps and fighting - actually we does a lot of fighting and it makes Mama and Daddy mad! It also leaves loads of Charlie floof all over the floor [snicker] That dude can drop fur wifout efen batting a whisker...

Mama has entered Charlie into a competishun - it's the only desent pikshir of the floofy dude she ever tooks.

Update on the Old One

This morning we packed Pandora into her travelling crate to go to the V.E.T.
Her vet for the last eight years has been her precious 'Uncle' Tim, a lovely man and an extremely good vet who is fantastic with fractious cats - and Pandora defines fractious! He has also cared for Ambrose (who died in 2001) and Echo (who died in 2004) and currently, Charlie.
But lately staffing changes have meant Pandora has had to get used to new vets.
Auntie Elena is one of her favourites - a lovely Spanish lady from Madrid.
Auntie Julie - she doesn't like her so much.
And today Pandora met another new vet, Auntie Helen.

Helen was quick, gentle, understanding and dealt with us as well as Pandora (one of the reasons we still use this practice even though it is more expensive than others).
She checked out the lump, then checked out Pandora's lymph nodes and certain specific parts of her anatomy.

As we hoped, it's unlikely to be cancer. It's more likely a lipoma, as I suspected. It's actually on her ribs and not on her shoulder.
She's not 'sick', she doesn't limp, she is eating fine, sleeping well, using her tray properly and still leaping (albeit gently!) onto laps, chairs, tables and boxes. Not bad for an 18yr old cat - which translates roughly to 85-90yrs old!
We politely refused unnecessary testing, figuring it would upset the old dear too much.
We agreed to watch her carefully for the next couple of months and whip her back to the vet if she appears ill or in discomfort.

Once her claws were clipped she was crated back up for the trip home.

Of course, the old madam got her own back, managing to throw up and wee simultaneously on the way home while her crate was on my lap.

Pandora: we know your time here is not infinite but we will still keep you with us, healthy and content, as long as possible.

Hi everyone, we know you've been worried, but Mum has trouble keeping her own blog up to date, let alone ours too.......Diva Kitty went to visit Mum's blog to see if we wuz ok.

Well, to bring you all up to date....I am fine - tomorrow is my 18th birthday (proper, after Mum miscounted last year!). I'm getting a bit creaky now, slowing down a bit. My hips hurt when I first get up, but I'm mostly good.I still smack the CharlieBoy around now and then, but he's tending to stay away from me now.

Hey, is mah dudes still out there? Mum has not been helping us to blog, and we haven't been online for ages. I'm, like, huge now.......way bigger than the Old BattleCat. I'm even too big for Mum's lap now...... I don't have the harness any more, I go into the garden on a collar 'n' lead.

Mum said to post this old picture, it's one of her favourites - me at a year old.

D'you know, it has rained here for weeeeeeeeeeeeks.......every day it rains. Mum says it's flooding up the motorway aways from us. I wonder if the floodies will come here.....hope not, I can't swim.......

Auntie Elena

I had to go to the stabby place yesterday. Luckily Mama has found us a nice V.E.T. and Uncle Tim has been looking after me for 9 years now, since I was a spry kitty.

Now Uncle Tim has to share us with Auntie Elena. She's ever so nice and kind and pretty, and talks like our Spanish Furiend Luna. Mama says she's from Spain.
Anyway, I saw Auntie Elena yesterday and she was ever so gentle. She stabbied me (I didn't like that at all!!) and checked my tummy and my eyes. Mama and Daddy call it a MOT, like when they have their cars checked! Then Mama asked if she would trim my claws and I did need a clawicure. But I had to keep my reputation intact so I hissed and spat and tried to bite them, while Mama held me and Auntie Elena clipped my claws.

I got a clean bill of health, Auntie Elena says I look fantastic for my age and am very well. They even weighed me. Being an elderly feline I am naturally modest, but I was weighed at 3.5kg, that's 7½lbs, apparently I have lost 200 grammes - whatever they are!

Do you all like your V.E.T.s and get to choose who you see or do you have to take whoever is on duty?

Mum says I am a good little nurse.

Now I don't know what a nurse is, but she says I'm a really good one!!

Mum was a sicky kitty yesterday. She was sick all day, couldn't eat, couldn't drink and was sick lots. So I slept wiff her all day.

She comed home early from The Work today and slept more. So I sleeped wiff her again.

We opened our Secret Paw yesterday on Kittymas........

It was from Dazey in Iowa, Mericky.

It was a Kittymas Stocking.

It says 'The Boss' - that's me, right? Pandy's asleep, so it must be me.....

Inside was loads of toys! I gots lots of balls, some pink, some red, some blue (I love balls), even one wiff fevvers (I love fevvers even more!!),

and it had a nip sack wiff Santa Paws on the front (I have never been a niphead, but there's always a first time!), and it had mousies in it too......a blue one and a pink one......

This is a wonderful time of year when the humans decorate the home for us cats in anticipation of the visit from "Santa Claws." The tree went up yesterday, and so did we! Whee! Made it to the fourth branch within the first five minutes before the Big Owner chased us out of the tree.

So, as we do every year, we waited and watched the humans decorate the Cat-mas tree with all sorts of these things humans call "ornaments."We call them "cat toys."

Ornaments are invitations to a cat, bright and shiny spheres just daring us to knock them off. And we're pretty good at it, considering all the trees they've decorated.
Every year humans hang the ornaments a little higher out of our range, forcing us to elevate our game to knock them off. Humans "ohhh and ahhh" as they decorate the Cat-mas tree. Us? We salivate in anticipation of the night's activities.
The humans retire to bed, as is custom during Cat-mas season, leaving us to play with our tree.
Tonight is a challenge, the ornaments are at an all-time high. We crept under the tree and began to scale branches. This is great! A tree in our own home, why don't they do this year-round? Five, six, seven branches, we climb like a pro. Ten, twelve, we are halfway to the top, and there is the first ornament! This is easy as Cat-mas fruitcake.

We make our way down the branch approaching the first ornament. It lightly jiggles as our weight causes the bough to bend. Almost there! One paw away and we feel a shudder. Hey, something is not right here, we begin to lose our balance. The room is tilting! No, the room is not tilting ... the Cat-mas tree is falling! ME-OW!!

It seemed like forever as the tree leaned, then pitched, and finally crashed to the floor in a resounding bang of explodingbulbs, ornaments, and broken limbs. We quickly extricated ourselves from the splintered tree just as the Big Owner came bursting in snapping on the lights and talking excitedly.

There we were, sitting next to the tree, as innocent a look on our faces as any other in the household.
"What happened?" he growled.
Not a peep from us, we turned and looked at the tree.
"I guess we hung too many ornaments on one side of the tree," we heard him say later as he hoisted the mangled Cat-mas tree back into place.
"Goo-ood answer," we thought.
The Big Owner staggered off to bed, and we retreated to the living room. Maybe we'll tear down those stockings that were hung by the chimney "with care".
It was a good day.

Wrapping Presents (With a Cat)

Why Kittymas is SUCH fun...

1. Clear large space on table for wrapping present.
2. Go to wardrobe and collect bag in which present is contained, and close door.
3. Open door and remove cat from wardrobe.
4. Go to cupboard and retrieve rolls of wrapping paper.
5. Go back and remove cat from cupboard.
6. Go to drawer and collect transparent sticky tape, ribbons, scissors, labels, etc.
7. Lay out present and wrapping materials on table, to enable wrapping strategy to be formed.
8. Go back to drawer to get string, remove cat that has been in the drawer since last visit, and collect string.
9. Remove present from bag.
10. Remove cat from bag.
11. Open box to check present, remove cat from box, replace present.
12. Lay out paper to enable cutting to size.
13. Cut the paper to size, trying to keep the cutting line straight.
14. Throw away first sheet because cat tried to chase the scissors and tore the paper.
15. Cut second sheet of paper to size by putting cat in the bag the present came out of.
16. Place present on cut-to-size paper.
17. Lift up edges of paper to seal in present, wonder why edges now don't reach, and find cat between present and paper. Remove cat and retry.
18. Place object on paper, to hold in place, while cutting transparent sticky tape.
19. Spend next 20 minutes carefully trying to remove transparent sticky tape from cat with pair of nail scissors.
20. Seal paper down with transparent sticky tape, making corners as neat as possible.
21. Look for roll of ribbon; chase cat down hall and retrieve ribbon.
22. Try to wrap present with ribbon in a two-directional turn.
23. Re-roll up ribbon and remove paper that is now torn, due to cat's enthusiasm in chasing ribbon end.
24. Repeat steps 12-22 until down to last sheet of paper.
25. Decide to skip steps 12-16 in order to save time and reduce risk of losing last sheet of paper. Retrieve old cardboard box that you know is right size for sheet of paper.
26. Put present in box, and tie down with string.
27. Remove string, open box and remove cat.
28. Put all packing materials in bag with present and head for lockable room.
29. Once inside room, lock door and start to re-lay out packing materials.
30. Remove cat from box, unlock door, put cat outside door, close door and re-lock.
31. Lay out last sheet of paper. (Admittedly this is difficult in the small area of the toilet, but try your best!)
32. Seal box, wrap with paper and start repairs by very carefully sealing down tears with transparent sticky tape. Now tie up with ribbon and decorate with bows to hide worst affected areas.
33. Label, then sit back and admire your handiwork, congratulating yourself on making good of a bad job.
34. Unlock door, and go to kitchen to make drink and feed cat.
35. Spend next 15 minutes looking for cat, before coming to obvious conclusion.
36. Unwrap present, untie box and remove cat.
37. Retrieve all discarded sheets of wrapping paper, feed cat and retire to lockable room for last attempt, making certain you are alone and the door is locked.
38. At time of handing over present, smile sweetly at receiver's face, as they try and hide their contempt at being handed such a badly wrapped present.
39. Swear to yourself that next year, you will get the store to wrap the darn thing for you.

Auntie Dawnie (mama's blogsistah) posted this very accurate list of cat rules - how refreshing that a human acknowledges we have rules!!

DOORS: Do not allow closed doors in any room. To get door opened, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an “outside” door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, or mosquito season. Swinging doors are to be avoided at all costs.

CHAIRS and RUGS: If you have to throw up, get to a chair quickly. If you cannot manage in time, get to an Oriental rug. If there is no Oriental rug, shag is good. When throwing up on the carpet, make sure you back up so that it is as long as the human’s bare foot.

BATHROOMS: Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything — just sit and stare.

HAMPERING: If one of your humans is engaged in some close activity and the other is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called “helping”, otherwise known as “hampering”.

CAT GAMES:
"Catch Mouse": The humans would have you believe that those lumps under the covers are their feet and hands. They are lying. They are actually Bed Mice, rumored to be the most delicious of all the mice in the world, though no cat has ever been able to catch one. Rumor also has it that only the most ferocious attack can stun them long enough for you to dive under the covers to get them. Maybe YOU can be the first to taste the Bed Mouse!

"King of the Hill": This game must be played with at least one other cat. The more, the merrier! One or both of the sleeping humans is Hill 303 which must be defended at all costs from the other cat(s). Anything goes. This game allows for the development of unusual tactics as one must take the unstable playing theater into account.

WARNING: Playing either of these games to excess will result in expulsion from the bed and possibly from the bedroom. Should the humans grow restless, immediately begin purring and cuddle up to them.
This should buy you some time until they fall asleep again. If one happens to be on a human when this occurs, this cat wins the round of King of the Hill.

Pandora: I am very well, apparently. Uncle Tim calls me 'gorgeous'! My bladder is fine, although the Horrible One made me poorly yesterday. My eyes are ok, but they have a blue caste with age. I don't have the bad hips my Mum was worried about, but Uncle Tim says I have a bad back 'cos of my advanced age. He spent a long time looking in my eyes, and clipped my claws. Uncle Tim likes me! :-) Oh, and I'm NOT 18 - I'm 17!! I can't believe Mum made such a mistake with my age!

They put a notice in a local magazine of sort. Also, a group (guessing friends/family) are going to go look for her Sunday. They are ahead of us in timeby approx 6 hours. My suggestion is to offer prayers throughout the day and evening that they find her during their search, and have a power vigil at 9 PM EST Saturday night. This is a chance for us to really pray Luna home.

We gots our Secret Paw!! All the way from Mericky!!

It was from Mrs Sniffles - and d'you know? For a bunny (and a beautiful one at that! - cq) she has the most excellent taste in fluffie toys!

We gots a tunn-ell. It's cool, makes crinkly noises and has a dee-vine little fluffy ball in it. Mum says best of all, when we're not playing wiff it she can close it up and put it away!

And I gots fevvers!! I loves fevvers. We gots a toy wiv eiver fevvers on it or it can have a fishy on it - I likes the fevvers best. It's supposed to hang on the dorrhadle, Mum says, but it hasn't got that far yet [munch].

My mum is so pleased wiff her new phone wiff video, she filmed me wiff my Secret Paw! And she has ovver videos she's gonna up-load to ewe-tewbe.

I'm bigger, so me first:

1. My favourite toy is called Stick. I haf nearly killed it. It used to haf fevvers and stuff, but now it's just yellow fluff onna stick. I takes it everywhere wiff me.

2. I haf a new toy. It's called Dot. Mum says it's actually a lay-zur. But I loves running and pouncing on it. We play most evenings, Mum says it's good exercise.

3. When I was a little kitty I used to sleep in the litter tray.

4. I is totally ascareded of visitors. When the doorbell rings I hides under my bed.

5. I haf an underbite, which means my front bottom teefs (you know those cute little ones in the front?) go over my top teefs. Makes eating stinky goodness difficult. Good fing I likes biscuit crunchies!

1. I am 18 years old and Uncle Tim sys I will probably live to at least 20.

2. When I was a kitty I nearly died, since then I have not been ill until my darling friend Ambrose went to the Bridge.

Wow - all the light things went out in the house the other day! Daddy and Mum were going around getting these things out.........

They are called 'can-dells' and Mum says they are really hot! I nearly singed my beautiful tail a couple of times....

I liked having no lights 'cos Mum and I played 'chase the torch beam' - that's a good game!

But when the lights came on there was this nasty screamy beeping noise that drilled through my head.......we didn't like that at all - in fact it made Pandy have a bad turn!

Mum says it was called the 'Ha-larm' and Daddy turned it off real quick.

All in all - powercuts are definitely not my thang!!

Look at what my Daddy maded for us!

Houses in the UK aren't built with screens, like the Mericky houses. And wiff two Before Fluffies taken to the Bridge on the Nasty Road, Mum doesn't want us to go roaming.

So Daddy maded us our very own screen! It fits into the french doors and means the doors can be open to let in some of that lush fresh air and we can't 'scape!

I was very disturbed this afternoon. We were shut out of the lounge (well, we know why now, 'cos Daddy was building our 'Fresh Air Thingy'). When we were let back in and I had inspected the Fresh Air Thingy,

I wandered off for a bite to eat - inspections are hard work! Well, the kitchen floor was lovely and clean....but where was my FOOD??

This is my dining area. But no tablecloth, no bowls, no FOOD!

That was SOME party.........

Most everyone came to help the old bagcat sellybrate her birthday! There was swimmin', tramamapolinin', drinkin', nippin' and even karaoke and dancin'! I'm pooped!!

Some new friends came; Skeeeeezix, Rocky and Maobert. They are cool dude cats and are welcome anytime (even though Pandora blew off Mao!).

Pandora is still recovering, and I'm still trying to dry my fur out. The pool has been returned to the loan company and the tramamapoline has been sent back to the people that lent it to us. There's no food left, and the drink was all drunk!

So it's back to normal here - until my Gotcha Day, which Mum says is next month!

She's 18yrs old on Monday and Mum said I could arrange a party tonight for her.

We watched Mum pack (charlie: actually Pandora pretended to be asleep - so Mum would think she didn't care), thinking that by using the Cat Stare we could persuade her to empty the suitcase again - but no........

When she settled down for a coffee we did the whole 'crowding the lap' thing, thinking maybe that would persuade her to stay........

We were very good, bit of sniffing, lots of purring and no fighting.....but no, she's still putting stuff in the suitcase.......

So I'm gonna sit on the draining board until she comes home!

Daddy's gonna look after us 'til Mum comes home. Good thing is we get extra snuggles from Daddy....!!

My mum founded me.

I sneaked out last night to do some 'sploring and they shutted the door wivout realising I was outside. So I creeped unner the little house in the garden, and sleeped there.

It wasn't nice, there was meeces, 'n' spy-dorrs 'n' bugs 'n' stuff and then when the sun camed up, I couldn't get out!

I cried and cried. Mama camed into the garden and looked under the little wooden house but I was napping. But she camed out a lot and I cried and cried 'Mama!' 'Mama!' - and she founded me! She called my name looked under the little wooden house with a light and got Daddy to come see.

Daddy made loud noises, Mama said he was pulling up the floorboards. I didn't like the noises, so I squeaked out of the teeniest space and dashed for the nice safe house. But the door was shut! Mama caught me and putted me in the house and I went and hid in my room.

I'm so glad to be home with Mama, it's NASTY out there.......

Out all night

Mama stayed out all night last night.

She went to the bean stabby place yesterday for a checkup on sumfin in her tummy. The Bean V E T said she was fine, so Mama went to stay with her friend RCA to cellybrate. They had drinks and fings, and watched the picture box.

Daddy was supposed to be poodin' sitting last night, but he had to go a long way away for the work thing, so we were all alone.........

Mama left us loads of food and we sleeped all night long - well, we won't tell about the wild party if you don't!

Mama's been *so* busy lately!

She has a new job and is working long hours, then she has to come home and look after us and Daddy.......
Now she is packing a bag and says she's going away for a fortnight to somewhere called school! A fortnight - that's like a kazillion sleeps! :-(

She's managing to keep her blog up to date, but she knows she hasn't been helping us with ours much.
And we're not gonna make the CatOlympics, she's afraid.

But once school is finished and everything is back to normal, she promises to help us more.

[Mama: guys! guys! One at a time.....I can't take dictation from two quarrelling cats! OK - charlie........]

ooh - I was SO scareded! Mum took me out in the garden (no harness, I prefers to sit on Mum's shoulder where I am safe - and have a better view!) and we wuz just mooching around getting some fresh air 'n' stuff.....and there was a huge bang........and a crash........and when Mum and I walked around the corner of the house, there was a BIG hole in the wall and lots of noisy stuff going on! I was so scareded I was shaking..........
Then Daddy came out of the hole in the wall. I wasn't expecting him, so it scareded me even more!
Mum cuddled me lots and whispered sweet nuthin's in my ear.....but, guys! Watch out for those big holes in the walls - I think dragons live in there!

I'm wasting away, I'm starving to death.......in fact it's all so traumatic I am going to sleep........

[Mama: Pandora has decided, after many years of happily miunching Duck stinky goodness, that she doesn't like it. There are bowls of food down and she's still doing a fair impression of a starving animal...........

Update: I would like to point out to all those caring fluffies that Lady Pandora has a nice varied diet. She has a mixture of wet and dry, every day she has prawns (cos it's the only way to get her to take her medicine), she regularly has oily fish for her stomach, bowels and glossy fur, and she does have boiled chicken and fish occasionally (not often cos her digestive system is as old as she is) but she's not keen on them!]
